The Dean's Faculty Service Award is established to recognize faculty of the Business School for their exemplary service contribution to the University, profession and community. The Award this year goes to Professor Siu Fai Leung.
Prof. Leung served as Head of the Department of Economics from 2014 to 2020, leading the Department with distinction and earning the respect and gratitude of his colleagues. As Head, he paid great attention to the Department’s undergraduate teaching, taking the time to interact regularly with students.
Prof. Leung has provided an extraordinary amount of service to Hong Kong’s development by serving on 18 government committees. He was awarded a Medal of Honor by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2019 which cited his long service on Hong Kong’s Minimum Wage Commission. He currently serves on Hong Kong’s Commission on Poverty. In terms of academic service to the profession, Prof. Leung has served on the Business Studies Panel of the RGC and the Assessment Panel of the Public Policy Research Funding Scheme and Strategic Public Policy Research Funding Scheme. He also served as President of the Chinese Economic Association in North America (CEANA) for three years.
The Dean's Faculty Service Award is given out on an annual basis, normally to one faculty member. A selection committee was formed to facilitate the selection process.
