Putting Auction Theory to Work – 2020 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences

The 2020 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences went to Paul MILGROM and Robert WILSON “for improvements to auction theory and inventions of new auction formats,” according to the Prize committee. In this HKUST Business School and IAS Nobel Prize Popular Science Lecture, Prof. Qinggong WU explains what the paradoxical “Winner’s Curse” means and how its effect can be minimized in an auction, while Prof. Yangguang HUANG discussed the objectives of auction designers and the challenges they face in practice and more.
