The PhD program in Economics is going to host an early admission camp this summer. We are inviting applications from all qualified students. The objective is to let prospective students interact in person with our faculty and students, and get a taste of the study, research, and living environment on the HKUST campus.

Outstanding participants will be considered for admission to the PhD program commencing fall 2026, as well as nomination for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme.

Eligibility

The early admission camp is targeted at:
•    Current undergraduate and postgraduate students who will be graduating by the summer of 2026;
•    Bachelor and/or master’s degree holders who plan to apply for the PhD program commencing in the year 2026;
•    Students with cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above out of 4.0 or equivalent.

August 28-29, 2025
 

Format

The camp is organized in mixed mode. Invited students can choose to attend either in person or online.
 

Activities

The activities of the camp include 
•    an information session about the program,
•    meetings with faculty members and PhD students, 
•    a written test and an interview, 
•    lunch gathering with faculty members and PhD students (for students attending in person). 
 

Application Deadline and Notification of Result

The deadline for application is July 28, 2025 (Mon). Invitations will be sent out to successful applicants by August 12, 2025 (Tue).
