Conversation with my Econ Professor with Prof. Wolfgang Keller
05 Nov 2025

Held on 4 November 2025, the “Conversation with My Econ Professor” event featured Prof. Wolfgang KELLER, a Visiting Professor of Economics since August. In his talk titled “Global Career Paths and Human Capital Accumulation,” Prof. KELLER explored the movement between jobs across different countries through the lens of human capital theory.

Prof. KELLER provided insightful analysis, drawing on the work of notable scholars such as Theodore Schultz and Gary Becker, to illustrate how individuals invest in skill acquisition and how these investments correlate with future earnings. He emphasized the importance of migration as a key form of human capital investment, detailing the associated benefits and challenges of relocating internationally for educational and employment purposes.

The conversation allowed students to engage actively, with numerous questions posed regarding global careers, the intricacies of human capital investments, and the implications of migration on professional trajectories. The open discussion fostered an encouraging atmosphere for dialogue, prompting students to reflect on their aspirations and the strategies necessary for pursuing international opportunities.
