BSc in Economics and Finance

Overview

The BSc program is designed to be quantitative oriented, it focuses on the scientific basis of economic and financial phenomena, problems, and solutions that required sophisticate analytical skills and quantitative methods.

Enjoying the synergy from solid education in both Economics and Finance, students are well equipped with knowledge and application of quantitative skills to grasp different aspects of the modern economy.

Career

This program is suitable for students who aspire to enter into business fields that require strong analytical and quantitative skills, such as investment banks and financial institutions, consulting, data analysis, economists, or government agencies. The program is equally suitable for students who wish to explore research and further study in economics or other fields.

The Program Structure

A distinguishing characteristic of the BSc program is that it requires less business core courses but more analytical courses in economics, finance, mathematics and statistics. The following courses are especially designed for this program, 

ECON 3113 Microeconomic Theory I
ECON 3123 Macroeconomic Theory I
ECON 3133 Microeconomic Theory II
ECON 3134 Macroeconomic Theory II

ECON 2174 Mathematics for Economists OR MATH 2023 Multivariable Calculus
FINA 3103 Intermediate Investments
2 FINA 3000-level or above elective courses (6 credits)
